Funding for Autism in West Lothian

Let’s get it Right for Autism is a project which aims to improve the quality of life of individuals with Autism living in West Lothian by supporting and encouraging greater participation in social activities and opportunities.

West Lothian Council have set aside £10,000 and want the community to decide how this is spent. Parents, carers, individuals with autism and other members of the community will decide which projects are needed to support people with autism.

This is part of West Lothian Councils Community Choices initiative which is about local people making decisions on local budgets. In December 2016, a survey was carried out to find out more about what people in West Lothian think about Autism and received 342 responses.

Based on the responses from the survey we have identified key themes and will focus on these through Let’s get it Right for Autism. We have invited local groups, organisations and clubs to put forward their ideas on how they can create new activities and opportunities, and widen access to existing activities and opportunities.

A launch event is being held on Saturday 25th March in West Lothian Civic Centre from 10.30am-1pm where members of the community, including parents, carers and individuals with Autism can hear about the different ideas that groups, clubs and organisations have put forward and then vote for the ideas they think will make a difference.
