Consultation on the future of the Scottish Planning System

As you are no doubt aware the Scottish Government published a consultation on the future of the Scottish Planning System on 10th January.  The consultation paper “Places, people and planning” sets out 20 proposals for change which aim to strengthen the planning system.  The consultation can be found at: https://consult.scotland.gov.uk/planning-architecture/a-consultation-on-the-future-of-planning/.  We are keen to hear all stakeholders’ views, therefore we would be grateful if you could help to raise awareness of the consultation and to encourage Community Councils to respond.  The consultation is open until 4th April 2017.

We have produced a short guide for Community Councils and would be grateful if you could please circulate this to the Community Councils in your respective areas.  The guide will be published on http://www.communitycouncils.scot/ and https://beta.gov.scot/policies/planning-architecture/reforming-planning-system/.

We will also be announcing some events across Scotland shortly, where members of the team will be available to discuss the proposals contained within the consultation paper.  The events will be published on our website https://beta.gov.scot/policies/planning-architecture/reforming-planning-system/ and advertised through our twitter (@scotgovplanning) and ealert system (https://register.scotland.gov.uk/Subscribe/Step1).

Kind Regards
